If you have a TV that runs Android TV, like a recent Sony model, you can install Google Duo as one of your apps and video chat that way. Facebook has more information on how to configure the device here. Unlike the Fire TV Cube, the Portal supports group chats and you can have up to 50 people in a video call on Facebook Messenger. Your contacts do not need to have a Portal device configured they can also chat via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp on their smartphones.

All you need to do is plug it into a spare HDMI port on your TV, log into your Facebook or WhatsApp account, and you’re ready to start chatting with family and friends via video link.

Update 2: Ok Manoj! Can you try out 28.Alternatively, there’s the $ 149 Facebook portal, which is essentially an advanced webcam for your TV. We're working hard at getting this fixed for you. It was causing problems for other users like, and we really want to get this right. Update: You're right, the remote has been temporarily removed. You're not the only one! I'm hoping to get this fixed in the next release. Happy to provide screenshots to help resolve the issue. The pop up has to be manually dismissed by clicking ‘Ok’ before you can do another click on the remote. I keep getting ‘something went wrong error’ for pretty much every click in the remote that’s embedded in the app. It essentially makes the Portal TV useless until I’m able to fix / replace the physical remote which hasn’t been working for quite sometime now. Contrary to the developer response, looks like the latest app update removed the remote functionality altogether from Portal app.

Updating to a 5 star rating - not only has the remote functionality been restored but also the errors went away! :) Thanks Portal team for fixing the issue as promised.
